The Darkness is an ancient power dating back to the creation of the universe. It is one of the two primal forces and is depicted as a masculine spirit of chaos counter to its orderly feminine celestial counterpart, the Angelus.

Jackie Estacado is the current wielder of the Darkness. Once an orphan, he was adopted into the Franchetti crime family and became one if its top hitmen. When he turned 21, his powers awakened and he learned of his dark heritage. He gained the abilities of a demigod. His indestructible mystical armor gave him superhuman strength, speed, stamina and rapid healing ability. He was also able to shape shift as well, forming serpentine tendrils, claws or wings in battle. He was bestowed access to the otherworldly realm of shadows, where he rules a countless legion of powerful shadow demons known as Darklings.

It was only a short time before the mob heads felt he was a threat and would turn on him. They killed his Jenny! Big mistake! Jackie boy will get his dark vengeance!
