My 100th Custom to be shared on The Realm! I purposely made sure I hit the century mark with the character who is the reason I began seriously collecting comics-- Backlash. I've made him before, but this contest was the perfect reason to make a version of him I have never seen done before. Starting with Issue 16 (so, more than half the run) Backlash began being depicted in a primarily dark blue costume, rather than black with blue highlights. Probably due to lesser known artists doing the art, his costume also became simplified. This rendition of Backlash sets out to capture that look. The already dark blue Boomerang body was an incredibly obvious choice. I then sculpted the hair onto a Blizzard head, and made it the longer style that he usually has in the final half of his 32 issue solo run. (Backlash also has Blizzard's lower legs.) I sanded down the gloves and swapped in a closed first hand and then repainted them. The circles of red and some strap accents were sculpted with FixIt. These are the best handmade circles I've ever done. (Thanks to circle shaped stuff that I pressed into the still soft clay.) The leg strap is from Nick Fury and the psi-whips are yellow wikkisticks. Thanks for taking a look and for voting!
Cool! One of the slickest costumes in all comics I think! The additions of the longer gloves was a cool change! He came on the scene with the right combo of cool look and awesome art by Brett Booth. Great job!
Cool Backlash! He looks exactly the way he did in the Image comics. I liked the Brett Booth art on Backlash. This looks like a fun figure to pose with all the articulation and those whips.
It IS! Except these particular wikkisticks are way more apt to fall off the back of his hand. I had one of my other Backlash figures posed with whips in the same spot for six months and they didn't come off. Hmmmm.
