Here is the octopus-faced enslaver of worlds himself, Cthulhu! H.P. Lovecraft is considered on of the most influential and significant authors in his genre, (paranormal horror), and being a huge fan myself, I was thrilled to find out about this contest!
I decided to use his most celebrated and widely-known creation, Cthulhu, for this contest. His design has varied widely, but several qualities have remained consistent over the years: he is always huge and visceral. I tried to achieve that look with my recipe.
Base figure: upper torso toybiz hulk, lower torso BAF green goblin. The head and claws are sculpted and the wings are from a mcfarlane dragon. They were pathetically small, however, and had to be lengthened with sculpt. Full repaint. An airbrush would have been useful, but alas, I haven't one. :(
Congrats MantisAbbey! I think this is the best Cthulhu custom, even Lovecraft would be amazed. Great work on the base figure choice, sculpting and painting.
Excellent work, the viscosity and the tentacles are awesome. You have captured perfectly the evilness and darkness of Ctulhu... my favourite of this contest .
The Thing cannot be described-there is no language for such abysms of shrieking and immemorial lunacy, such eldritch contradictions of all matter, force and cosmic order!
