Hi, guys !

Here are some pics of my middle-earth-diorama.

It's home for my LOTR-Toybiz-collection; the few Hobbit-figures of Bridge direct and my own custom figures as well. All together ...approximately 150-160 figures.

There's no "Finished-status". Though there's no more space to expand the area, it still offers potential to improve it's content/quality. Some items, like the attack-tower and the troll who pushes it...is a temporary arrangement and I just recognized, that I have to remove King Elendils sword and replace it by a broken Narsil. Acute organisation blindness !
When it wasn't that crowded, I'd re-enacted many more scenes from the Lord of the rings-movies, but the more figures were added all merged together and the authenticity decreased here and there. When my wife gave me the NECA Balrog, as a birthday present, in april , many scenes needed to give way to it. So now it's "just" one hudge final battle scenery... good vs. evil.

The size of the diorama is 1,80x2,40meter (5.91x7.87 foot)

It has a backround-poster of the black gate of mordor with orc troops swarming out, but the figures cover most of that...on the pictures.
Modular tabletop-boards as "battlefield".

The Orthanc is a 3D-puzzle my wife once assembled and though it's not in the right scale (surprisingly), we thought..."why not put it in the diorama, too ?"

I hope, you enjoy looking at it, just we both do everyday.

Cheers !

Hi, Nomadamusic ! Thanks for having a look !

Since two weeks, it is twice the size. 😄 The Balrog has it's own, separate diorama now, but both is still under construction. I’ll take pictures of it, when our removal and the set-up of the dioramas are completed.

Regards from sunny Bavaria !

I'm SO glad, that the design studios from Battle o.t.f.a., came up with a "Bridge-Troll", which is carrying a looong, wooden bridge above his head, which provides space for about 10-15 figures. Some custom figures of that and Tadaaa, problem solved : orc-stack stocking on two levels !

Hey, Edgy 3 ! Ha haha, YOU are very welcome to join the fight. Which side are you on ?
I wished, I could extend the whole thing one more time, to get more space for better interaction between the figures and for the few projects I still want to realize.
I'm at the point, where I have to remove one figure, to get space for a new custom, but I have a really hard time picking one, at the same time.
What a diorama-dilemmata !

All the best !

I'm curious about your next project !

The space issue!!!!!!One of the major hurdles that we customizers face!!! The guys who build it then sell it on eBay have the only real solution I keep saying thats what I going to do at the start of each project, but deep down I know it will never happen!!!!!

Hi, Deaditor ! Thanks man ! I've found those eagles on Ebay about two years ago for 9$ each...just searched for it, to give you the item-number, but they aren't offered anymore in that size Only the smaller ones (14" wingspread...would work for 3,75"scale) are available. Maybe you'll find them on AmazonUSA ? AmazonGermany had it too, back then, but I did not find now.

Yeah, the Balrog was a hudge surprise, literally. I had no idea, cause I'd always said, that I don't want one, due to the lack of space...The prices range from 200-300€ here, but she got one in absolutely perfect condition for 170€ inkluding shipping from Austria. That's a STEAL !

If I find those eagles again...I'll let you know.

The ravenhill flag-system would be a cool project for you, don't you think so ? You have Azog in BOTFA-Armor already...

Regards !

Thanks man. Yeah you are lucky to have gotten it. I have considered many things like that but it's a matter of space and materials and at the moment I'm still doing the finishing touches on a project which I'm sure everyone guessed by now as I use it as the backdrop to all my photos at the moment. That azog armour is ok but I got another azog and I am slowly sculpting the armour directly onto him for a better look etc. I probably will do the frozen waterfall though.

Very cool Staley loving the red skies! Do you know what eagle that is? Was considering making one but if you've found a decent sized one I might just buy and customise it. Nice pics! And that's so nice of your wife! I want a neca balrog lols saving up.
