Recipe: Spider-Hulk action figure –from ebay for $31.50 Painted Marvel Select Hulk head –from ebay for $4.99 This is more of a modification than a customization. The masked head for this figure has a weird jawline. Every time I looked I think that’s a duck’s head under the mask. Thus, I had to make a change! Plus, there’s an action feature that ruins the look of the figure’s back. A large lever sticks out of the back and creates up and down arm motion. Thankfully, the lever doesn’t hinder the ball-jointed shoulders or full range of motion of the arms. I popped off the head and unscrewed the lever to remove it. Dremeled the inside “trough” a little and then put duct tape in it (so the upcoming apoxie wouldn’t seep inside and gunk-up of the action feature gears.) I filled the trough with apoxie sculpt and used a bamboo barbecue skewer to make some continued musculature, costume creases, and webline pattern. I used black primer paint, the red & blue wargames paint, some black wash, and vallejo acrylic varnish (first I used gloss, then mat varnish). I’m new to painting so I didn’t make a perfect color match. The finishing touch is a better Hulk head. Now the figure works like a regular constructed action figure. Cheers! ![]() |
