Don't deny it, deep in your heart you all love Bofur. He's the guy who terrifies you with tales of Dragons but plays a merry tune on his flute and wishes you well. Anyways, I really wanted to get this figure done and out, I used a basefigure that I saw so much potential in with the various parts (there are a lot!. The pieces I used were: -Mr Fantastic Head -Frodo body -Aragorn King lower body and upper legs -Sheriff of Nottigham leg, knee and shin's -Spiderman 2 Spiderman upper arm swivel joint -Sheriff of Nottingham Lower arms -Legolas Hobbit figure hands -Wrist joints made out of Han Solo boots -Aragorn Ranger Ancles and feet -Gimli Coronation lower feet -pieces of fodder etc and broken pieces repurposed. The list could go on. I saw potential with the right wrinkels and eyes but resculpted the mouth and enlarged the nose. I used Elrond's robe tie for the curly parts of the moustache, Gimli's plat cut in half for the plats and part of Gimli's front beard for the back of his head. I used images of all the Dwarves in the fat suits to get the height and fatness right. James Nesbit being 6ft he needs to be shorter than Richard (Thorin) and Grahham (Dwalin) but taller than others. So I started sculpting the fat onto his body then covered with the tunic from the sheriff, then overlayed with Aragorns Tunic cut verticly to make thinner and fit him better. The used the sheriff's coat for the lower Tunic, a long strap and a piece from Strider's belt for the leather of the belt then sculpted a buckle, the cufflings, the fur on the boots, whittled the shoe's down to make hte mocasins then added the details. Those cuff's he has have a tetris snake all the way around with little triangles between so yes that took ages, but you know I love my details! His flute is just an Aragorn Arrow whittled and indented and painted. The Hammer of course is from a Gimli that I sculpted onto with miliput and used plastic for the back part. It took a while ith the right shapes and sanding to get the right slopes. The hat I made from two parts of the animal fur off the sheriff for the sides and front fur so it would e floppy not brittle, then with clingfilm over his head I sculpted the hat and details. The details in the ties are literally just thread tied for detail and glued. The scarf of course is the 3.75" Gandalf's one reshaped and repurposed! The wool fingerless gloves are the same method as Bombur's just placed the clay around his hands then imprinted with a loose piece of chainmail. Not sure what else to say other that look at the before and after haha. Really pleased with this figure and how it turned out much better than I anticipated lol so yeah. Here he is Bofur the Dwarf. ![]() |
