The war for Eternia had been raging on for years now. Skeletors forces kept growing, and we kept knocking them back. He was getting stronger, and we were starting to tire of the endless fighting. The final blow came when I returned from a mission to find Skeletor impaling the King, my father, at the gates of Grayskull. I felt rage like I had never known. Sense and reason abandoned me and I charged at him with desire only to see him dead at my feet. He ran through the gate, and as I charged to follow him, there was a flash of bright light, then everything went dark. Suddenly I felt a burning pain across my face. Disoriented and confused I tried to see where the attack had came from. Blood poured into my right eye and onto my left shoulder. Another slice, right above the last. I fell back, wiping the blood from my face. My vision started to clear and I saw what looked like my own reflection, but with jet black skin and blood red hair. He lunged at me again. I tried to dodge, but his blade caught me across my back. As I shuffled back to my feet, I realized I felt weak. How was he tearing through my flesh so easily? Why was I struggling just to get on my feet? He swung again. This time I jumped back and out of range of the following swipes. He stopped his attack. Just standing there staring at me like some sort of trick mirror. He was smirking as he began swinging his sword from side to side. Finally, my vision clearer though blood still streamed, I looked around to see faces of my fellow Eternians, all distorted reflections, laughing and scoffing at me while my doppelganger waved his arms, encouraging their mocking. He let out a laugh, my laugh. I ran. Though it shames me to admit it now. I ran as fast as I could. The crowd roared. I kept running. Running until my legs became tired and shaky. I looked around to see nobody pursuing me, though I could still hear the chants and jeers. For what seemed like hours, I climbed through the hills I had as a child, though they were not the same. Everything was the same, but not. This was not my home. I knew that much, but how did I get here? More so, how do I get home. I couldn't think straight. My body hurt, my head was in chaos, and I couldn't even take the time to mourn my father. I found a stream and washed my wounds as well as I could. Some of my strength was returning, but only some. I was healing slower than I was used to. My head swimming, I passed out. I have no idea for how long. I was awakened by voices nearby. I was sure they had found me. Ready to fight, I grabbed my sword and sprung to my feet. I leaped through the bushes to find Keldor staring at me with a smile. A smile. A face. He had a small group with him. Some I recognized, but not anyone I expected to seem friendly. Though Keldor talked softly and convinced me not to attack, he didn't seem surprised that I was ready to. Over the next few hours, they fed me, tended my wounds and told me of the resistance. The resistance led by Keldor. Apparently, my arrival here in Anti Eternia had been fairly public knowledge. The resistance had been keeping an eye on the castle since word had spread. My powers were greatly weakened as the Grayskull here fueled my doppelganger, though I still retained some of my Grayskulls gifts. Keldor and his group had been searching for me since I fled the battle. I couldn't help but feel a rush of shame as they they recounted the events they had watched from afar. It seems that, somehow, Skeletor had struck a deal with the Anti Eternia He-man. Though I don't know what the other side of the deal was, it seems that Skeletor sought to be rid of me through cross world assassination. Keldor went on to explai that they had a way to send me back, but it would require reaching the gate of Grayskull. Something I knew would require going through my doppelganger. Over the course of the next week or so, I worked alongside Keldor and his people to come up with a plan of attack. I knew I had to get back home as soon as possible, but I also knew rushing would not bring success. I knew my weakened powers were no match for the power hungry dictator of this Eternia. While the rebels worked on the plan, I trained. I trained harder than I ever had before. For four months the rebels worked on a series of distractions throughout the city that would not activate until the right moment. In the meantime, I trained. The day seemed to arrive quicker than I realized. Everything was ready. The rebels were set to attack on several fronts, while I charged Grayskull and it's guardian. I knew they would be expecting something. These past months, nobody had searched for me, so I knew they were waiting for me to come to them. Surprisingly, everything seemed to go as planned. The rebels attacked and the kingdom fought back on all fronts, for the most part, taking the army out of the equation. I ran towards the gate of Grayskull, and sure enough, my doppelganger was waiting for me. He started laughing as I charged. He swung, I dodged. He swung again and again, I dodged and deflected. He was stronger than me, no doubt, but I was quicker. I knew there was no sense in training my strength, so I had trained my reflexes, my speed. And it was working. At first. He screamed with anger as he caught me with his blade as I tried to dodge again. He swiped across my shoulder once, then again. He then slashed my leg three times as I rolled to safety. Once again, I was bloody and hurting. As he lunged towards me again, his blade was deflected my none other than Keldor. The man who would have been Skeletor saved my life. I picked myself back up. I knew Keldor was no match for He-Man. I could not let him fall. My double pushed Keldor to the side easily, and as he swung his sword at him, I pushed him to the side and caught my attackers blade across my midsection. Once, and once again. I pushed Keldor to safety as my dark reflection ran me through with the blackened blade that mirrored my own. He laughed harder as he sunk it deeper through me. I knew this was it. My vision wavering. My body failing me. This was the end of Prince Adam of Eternia. Keldor yelled my name. MY name. Adam. As my murderer laughed in my face, mocking the hell that would befall my Eternia, I gripped my sword tightly. I pulled myself in, closer to him, burying his blade deeper through me. For a moment we stared into each other's eyes and as I smiled at him, he knew. He knew that in the end, my resolve was stronger than his. I drove my blade through his neck. Dark blood gushed from his open throat and from his mouth. As he gargled on his fate, I pulled myself back, twisted my sword to each side and separated his head from his body. As we both fell to the ground, I felt Keldor wrap his arm around me and pick me up to my shaking feet. "This is not over for you, Adam of Eternia" he said in a strained voice, dragging me towards the gates of Grayskull. He pulled a vile from his hip and poured it's contents in a straight line across the threshold of the gate. For a second, a light erupted from the liquid as it raised to form a flickering doorway. He smiled as he thanked me. "You have saved my world. Now, go save your own". He pushed me through the opening, and I found myself looking out from the other side of the gate of my Grayskull. As I looked out at my Eternia, I felt my wounds closing. I felt the power build within me once more. I was home. Or was I?Everything seemed deserted. The landscape was scorched in several places. Grayskull, itself, was empty. I made my way back to the kingdom. On my trip, I came across a small group who jeered at me. Told me I had some nerve dressing this way, and that the king would have my head for this insult. They came at me, and I took them down with ease. They were trained, but I had the full power of Grayskull flowing through my veins again. I tied my attackers up with the ropes they intended to bind me in. Before I could question them, I heard another group coming my way. Ready for another fight, I was astounded to see this group led by Teela, but not as I knew her. It took her a moment to recognize me, but when she did, she jumped at me. She punched me across the face and pounded on my chest. As she did, she noticed my scars. Though my wounds would heal again, the scars of my time in Anti Eternia would never fade. She stopped and stared at me. She was older. She wore scars of battle herself. I asked if we could talk. Teelas group took the band who attacked me into custody. She told me seven years had past since He-Man 'deserted' the war and left Skeletor to claim the throne. The stronger he became, the more his forces grew. Many turned to his side to avoid being executed, thrown into the dungeons or forced into slavery. Seven years. I couldn't wrap my head around it. I went on to explain to her where I had been, and how only four months had past. We both needed answers. She still didn't entirely trust me, but she agreed to take me to the rebels stronghold. We traveled underground, through caves I never knew existed. Finally we came to a dead end. A large, flat wall. Teela held a large ruby up to the wall and an opening appeared. I was shocked to see a great underground city. I was even more shocked to see my father. Before I could speak a word, he wrapped his arms around me. "I knew you would come back to us, my son" he said. Tears streamed down both of our faces. He was alive. Over the following days, we all did a lot of talking. The Sorceress, who had fled Grayskull in the wake of Skeletors destruction and my abandonment, also shared this city with the loyal Eternians who had survived. As it happens, Skeletors plan was more ingenious than I think even he realized. Had he just killed me, my powers would have been relinquished and Grayskull would have chosen a new champion. With me sent to another world, I was still linked with Grayskull, though that link was weakened between worlds, it was still there. I told her what had happened to me. She looked through some ancient texts she had managed to save and found that parallel words don't always move through time the same way. Thus, my four months in Anti Eternia had been close to seven years here. There was no getting the lost time back. There was no saving the lives of all those lost in the great war of Eternia. There was no way I would let this pain continue. We would rise up again. I must keep my return secret from Skeletors forces, until it was time for us to face each other one last time. We must build our forces stronger. We will take Eternia back and show Skeletor the true power of Grayskull. This one was also made mostly from a figma archetype. The hair, arm wraps, most of the harness, boots and sections of the loincloth were sculpted. I used a MOTU sword, cut down some and sculpted a bit to fit this world. Various other fodder from assassins creed and McFarlaine was used. The cape, harness and left arm armor were all made to be removable. I hope you guys like my dark future masters of the universe, and thanks for checking them out. ![]() |
