I am finally dropping my Dain!! A lot of love went into this character. It is a task that nearly destroyed me, literally. Okay not literally, but I had a severe allergic reaction to Milliput and that slowed the whole project down. What are other good epoxies? Recipe- Head:Radagast Body: Tyrion (BoBW) Upper Arms: Ned Stark Forearms: Tyrion (BoBW) Upper Legs: Tyrion (BoBW) Lower Legs: Jack Sparrow Kilt: Breanne of Tarth Cape: Rob Stark So right after I made my own Radagast, I found one for $6 at a used toy shop. Very frustrating. Ha ha. But I bought the figure anyways to update mine. I did not like the face for Radagast, far to mean. So I used my head and used the official head on Dain. I cut the birds nest off, and bulked up the forehead. I trimmed the beard and added braids from a Gimli figure. The Mohawk came from Thorin's coat. The rest was added via Milliput. I used Tyrion's body, which proved to be an excellent base figure. I sculpted the armor, added a left over belt from Thorin, cut up the existing kilt into fringe, added Breanne of Tarth's kilt under that and glued Gimli's mesh on that. The shoulder pads came from Rob Stark and Eomer. The legs I took off of my Gloin Figure and I updated Gloin with heftier legs. Then I sculpted armor over them. The Helmet took days! After several failed sculpting attempts, I finally made the helmet out of a yogurt lid. I bent the plastic and trimmed it to get symmetrical bends. Then sculpted around that. ![]() |

What a fantastic looking figure !?
I love it ! Hudge Kudos for this clean and highly detailed piece of art !
Haha, may I ask you, where you get that many Tyrion-figures from ? ...and for what price ? Those are not to get here, only by ordering from the UK for around 20$.
I don't even know miliput and it's characteristics, but I'd recommend "pro create". It was challenging for me to switch from "apoxy sculpt", but the pros are worth it.
I can't wait to see your Dain on your armored bor !
Cheers !
I can't wait to see your artistic take on Dain.
