Hi, Fellows ! Here's the next "recycle the leftovers"-figure. I had two Gothmogs lying around... in "not good enough, to sell / way too good, to throw in the thrash"-condition. In fact, decent base-material, but there's a big "drawback" about the Gothmog-figures.... the crippled, left arm. Replacing it ? At first sight: reeaaally labor-intensive. Surprisingly ...it wasn't. Not half as complicated, as I've expected it to be. I know, this character does not appear, neither in the books, nor in the movies... so here's my justification : The troops of mordor are hudge....Gothmog and the maybe two other, movie-based lieutenants could have been the only ones, to coordinate the mobilization of mordor. I've already did "Kurgash", because of this consideration and it's my favorite figure, still. For some reason, I have a faible for that typical orc-"uniforms" with the dirty-red combat-suit and the jagged edged-armor and wished Toybiz would have released more than just the "orc lieutenant" in that style. Gothmog's suit is painted brown, not red-ish, anyways. So here is "Razça'ag". Tall; ogreish; not the smartest, but terribly strong. He easily carries a massive piece of troll-armor, as shield and an elaborately crafted mace, once forged in minas morgul, for the armory of the nazgul. Recipe : Head : dungeons of Isengard orc captain. Cut off it's braids; cut open the corners of the mouth; clap down the lower jaw; removed the teeth; sculpted new ones and a tongue. Hair from a WWE-Jeff Hardy-figure. I tried a different method to paint the head, than I usually do: No base-color. A bright dry brushing, directly over the black primer abd just a small amount of shade, instead. I'm really happy with the result...so much structure...perfectly for orc-skin. The left arm : Removed the crippled one and cut off the peg. Dremeled off the proliferation on the shoulder, till it is a little bit smaller as the ball-sized, right shoulder. Adjust the length of the peg (to provide same length of both arms) Re-attach the peg, but keep the joint moveable. Put a very thin surface of pro create-sculpy over the shoulder-ball and scratch the weaving pattern into it. Opened the forearm-joint of a right arm and reattached it, just the other way around; cut of the thumb including joint, reattached it on the other side of the hand; sculpted around both spots. The back armor is made of scratch, from rubber and pro create. Fake fur around it. The collar- and loincloth-chainmail is real chain, on flexible 1mm thin rubber. Though I had the original ones of Gothmog...I choose the thigh-armor from an orc overseer, to get a bit more individual look. Same with the shin-guards....the new ones I've made of plastic and sculpy. The mace is made of a chronicles of riddick-lord marshal's axe. Cut off its blades and added two segments (identical to the remaining ones), which I've carved from polypropylene. The sword is just sculpy and fake leather around the handle. The additional belt is fake-leather, the buckle is made of "techno-look"-fake leather. The shield is from a battle troll. I've found and chose the logo, from many other mordorian logos, I've found on the web. I've repainted the whole figure with citadel colors. Tried a different way of painting rusted armor, by using the citadel color "typhus corrosion" for the first time. Thumbs up ! I hope you like it, guys !? Cheers ! ![]() |

The contests are on the left side of this page ( R0b0ts ; Unspoken ; childhood hero, and so on ) Should be a blast even if it is only you, Deaditor, Grinmankey, Yokai-john , Bastlia, Red wolf and myself
Thank you, man ! Well, I've started working on a "return of the king"- armored troll (like the one you've did, already) in 2015, as my second custom figure ever, but found out, that if I'd create all the armor by using apoxy sculpt, pieces might could break off. That stuff is great to work with, but it cures hard as stone and the colors don't stick to well. So I stopped working on it. I have to order a big amount of pro create putty from spain first and it's currently out of stock.
Regards !
What are you working on, at the moment ?
Have a productive nighttime customizing-session, today !
All the best !
Haha, really ? I'm happy, that you like it that much ! Funny how likings vary...but THANK YOU A LOT for your contant support and this nice comment ! ! !
Yeah, the mace...was a welcome alternation to the standard-weapon : sword.
Yes, you definitely should recycle your spare-Gothmog too ! I'm curious 'bout how YOU solve the left-arm-issue.
I will definitely take a group-picture of Gothmog; Gurlitz, Kershhâg, Kurgash and Nårgh...
Just want to set up a small background for that first.
I'm looking forward to see one of your new dwarfs ! Who's next ?
Take care !
CHEERS !
I get what you guys mean, I was having a discussion earlier with a friend about how if you buy a certain series you become an expert in pieces and seeing different potential or what pieces a person uses and whilt I buy a lot of Marvel figures I mainly buy movie line figures and the odd comic one so I haven't become an expert in Marvel but LOTR, oh yeah I can look at any and see what a person has done. That Aragorn you mentioned Redwolf in the LOTR pack is the worst one, but he has the best coat due to it being the right oftness and not having a hole in the baack for a button. It's worth taking the coat and giving it to the super articulated Strider as his one is too rubbery. I've been sewing all night and will post a custom tomorrow after some pictures as am exhausted after something stupid like 4-6 hours of sewing.
