Well, I'm only the latest to post a Gloin custom. He's one of my favorite dwarf designs in the film. I waited a couple days after Deaditor's because his was so awesome. I actually started Gloin very shortly after I finished my Fili a while back. I got pretty far with it and realized I wasn't happy at all with my efforts and basically tore it down to the studs and started over.
I combined a regular Gimli torso with a Coronation Gimli lower body and legs. Upper arms are from regular Gimli with lower arms from Coronation. The head is also Coronation Gimli. The layers on the costume we're fun to make. What started out as a despised figure, turned into a favorite! Thanks for looking!!
Howdy! I am back from my vacation in Mexico and am delighted to see all these new Hobbit Customs. Amazing job here. I am almost done with Oin, Bilfur. Then Fili and I am saving Balin for last. I meant to post 2 figures before my vacation but ran out of time.
I appreciate the feedback, Staley! I love Gloin's design! He is the most stereotypically fantasy Dwarf, in my opinion. I grew to love the others but he didn't need any adjustment period in order for me to like him. It didn't hurt that he is Gimli's father!
Haha! Thanks! One of the tricks the film makers used to make the actors more "dwarfy" was to widen the ear position, so I've been employing the same tactic. Thanks for all the positive feedback!
