A simple custom. The Mattel DC Superheroes Series 3 headsculpt by the Four Horsemen was great, but I always liked Batman with longer ears. So, I swapped the headsculpt with my DC Direct Arkham Asylum Batman (sculpted by Dave Cortes, who also did Toy Biz brown costume Wolverine, Punisher, Sentinel, and many other amazing figures). The DC Direct Arkham Asylum figure was great, but was more of a statue with a bit of articulation, but I liked the headsculpt. On the Mattel figure, I shaded parts of the light blue cape, gloves, boots, and groin to match the dark blue of the head. The great thing about this custom is that I didn't have to do any cutting or superglueing. Since I've customized the Mattel DC Superheroes body before, I knew I could just pull out the existing ball joint from the neck part of the cape after dipping it in some hot water. Then I just popped the head off the DC Direct figure (including its ball joint) and popped it on the Mattel figure. The head has full articulation, it can look left, right, up, down, tilt sideways, etc. Also, if I ever want to, I can swap back the original headsculpt. ![]() |
