The closest to a great Swamp Thing figure (with decent articulation) from DC is the 2011 SDCC exclusive. It looks like the Alan Moore era I grew up reading. The downside is that doesn't have some of the critical points of articulation that make for dynamic posing. In other words, the waist and wrists do not swivel, it has an ab crunch that barely has an effect in the posture, and the legs have that blocky, square cut at the hips that just doesn't look right with the athletics of the upper body's bulk. There is another Swamp Thing figure that looks very comic accurate but is expensive and doesn't look like it has much articulated, and another that isn't expensive and has lots of articulation but the figure is emaciated and small compared to other DC figures. Thus, here's my definitive Swamp Thing to fill the gap. I've seen this kitbash produced already but not with this SDCC 2011 head. The buck is from the Marvel Legends BAF Man Thing. The beauty is the ST head pops on it perfectly! The head's color is a lighter shade of green but not distracting for me. I added brown paint to the BAF for areas that showed knots for wood patterns, white & yellow paint for the mushrooms growing out of the upper right leg, and some reddish-orange for the possible "tubers" blossoming in his upper left leg. Oh, and I clipped Man-Thing's fingernails and Toenails. I thought I'd have to paint over the toes and fingertips but it wasn't necessary after a little sandpaper. ![]() |
