One figure I feel that Hasbro definitely needs to consider remaking is US Agent. He came out during a time when Hasbro had just made the then-new Bucky Cap base body and decided to put everyone on it, which I feel is entirely too small and short for John Walker (or Steve Rogers as the Captain, if you prefer); the one redeeming quality I felt the figure had was the great head sculpt. So last year, when the Red Onslaught/Captain America Series hit Ollie's for $8 a figure, I picked up a few spare Caps, one of which I planned to use for a US Agent remake. I understand that his official stats list him as larger than Steve Rogers, but in much of the artwork I've seen (I used much of "Captain America: The Captain" trade paperback as well as the Epic Heroes figure for inspiration), Walker and Rogers look about the same size, so this works for me. Recipe: Head, forearms/gloves, calves/boots, belt, hands (pointing, saluting, and grip hands): Classic Captain America (Red Onslaught Series) Body: Walgreens Punisher Fists: Sunfire Shield: Epic Heroes/Return of Marvel Legends Series 3 US Agent I used a Walgreens Punisher for the base body (since US Agent's costume is primarily black), which I'd picked up in the middle of last year for another custom. I swapped out the forearms down and calves down with those from Classic Cap; I shaved down the joints to keep paint rub to a minimum. I also shaved the forehead's sculpted letter "A" off and resculpted it with Milliput. I then painted the Punisher's chest skull flat black before painting a patch of white on his chest. I then proceeded to hand-paint the red lines of his chest on. Finally, I printed out a black star before encasing it in clear packing tape, which I cut out and glued into place. To finish his chest up, I Modpodged it with a matte coating to remove any unnecessary shine. I left the boots' and gloves' paint alone, but painted the calves and forearms flat black, as well as his head. I painted his belt loops flat black, and the belt itself I painted a shiny red so as to give it a leather-like look to it. I also remembered that I had extra Sunfire hands laying around; if anyone should be able to beat the hell out of people, it's US Agent. I think the size works really well on this body, unlike those of, say, the fists that came with Wonder Man. To top him off, I gave him the old figure's shield. Now I not only have the more appropriately larger US Agent figure I always wanted, but a figure to double as Steve Rogers: The Captain on my Avengers shelf, as well. I had a blast making this guy, as well as taking pics of him; enjoy! ![]() |
