I removed the sleeveless jacket and repainted the figure, then replaced the jacket and cut around the arm holes so it resembled a vest. For some reason, the paint on the vest was sticky even after sitting for two weeks. The gold chain was glued on. I created the moustache by slicing off a piece of hair from an X-Pac figure and cutting away part of the original's lip, then attaching it with Gorilla Glue. The hair on the original was too puffy so I cut it down with an X-acto knife -- the new texture where needed was a combination of boiling/scoring and deliberate painting. Lighter gray on the hair was applied with a dry brush. I bought the hat at an art store -- it was made of some sort of flocked plastic -- then trimmed it and made two dents at the top with a pencil eraser.
Aside from a practice run on the same character using GI Joe parts, this is my first-ever custom.
