So I have to say, the new Deadpool wave is my favorite wave this year... so far, at least. One of the things, as many collectors know, is that when you buy cases of a Build-a-Figure series, you sometimes end up with extras of figures. So here I was with an extra Deadpool figure and trying to figure out what to make out of him (every customizer has to make a Deadpool figure; it's like a rite of passage). I then remembered that I wouldn't be needing my old X-Force Deadpool (which I could use for parts) thanks to the new, much improved figure. I also remembered my broken Juggernaut Series Deadpool figure collecting dust in a drawer. And since the "Cable & Deadpool" comic series is one of my favorite runs of all time, I decided to honor it with a figure, which I could do with a combination of the three figures' parts. Recipe: Heads, swords, guns/bazooka, taco: Juggernaut Series Deadpool Chest harness, leg holster with gun: Epic Heroes Series X-Force Deadpool Body: Sasquatch Series Classic Deadpool Feet: Vulture Build-a-Wing Series Moon Knight Sais: Netflix Elektra Blast Effect: "Civil War" 3-pack movie Iron Man I remembered I also had spare parts from last year's Moon Knight figure; I thought the feet would be perfect due to their sculpt. Deadpool's costume changes several times throughout the 50 issues of that particular C&D comic, so I was able to pick and choose which elements I wanted to use. I really liked the chest harness, so I took the one from the old X-Force figure, painting over the "X" symbol on the chest with a glossy red, as well as some of the same red on the belt buckle, too. I also did the same for the head and feet, but I coated them in a matte Modpodge. I also used a flat black for the trim on the boots. I wanted some red on the swords' handles, so I took the ones from the Juggernaut Series Deadpool. I also knew I wanted an unmasked head, due to his masked and unmasked looks playing a crucial part in one of the funniest jokes in the comic's first issue, but he had pupils there, so I took the unmasked head from the Juggernaut Series Deadpool and painted some glossy black pupils on there. After that it was just a simple matter of scrounging up some weapons. I have to admit, I really like how he holds the sais from Elektra, as well as the bazooka with the blast effect with his unmasked head. Oddly enough, the unmasked head fits snugly, while the masked head is very loose; some black electrical tape will definitely be needed to tighten that up. So yeah, now I have another of Wade's pretty iconic looks, and I'm very glad to have him. ![]() |
