Lodar MOTU Vintage (Masters of the Universe) Custom Action Figure
I have been getting into silicone molding & resin casting; and this figure is a result of some of that. I have had all the pieces together for probably two years and decided to finally finished this custom; now that I found out a MOTUC figure has been released of the character by Super7. I had picked out my paints prior to seeing the new MOTUC figure but the color schemes are still a pretty close match. I think my more muted pink is better for the vintage figure though. I probably painted it a little hastily but I wanted to get it done. I customized my own waste piece with “ball joints” which fits a vintage MOTU legs' very well; once all of the black rubber band is removed. I molded & casted copies of this waste; which will allow me to give new life to broken legged MOTU figures going forward. This figure is wearing one of those wastes. I shaved down a Sy-Klone head and sculpted the face mask with epoxy putty. I casted Beast Man's Arm Armor to have exact duplicates of the spikes and attached those to the helmet with epoxy putty also. This figure is wearing the sculpted head original; but I casted my head for some copies too, which came out awesome. It is a full body “Hero” figure re-paint. I just simply used two Trap-Jaw shoulder armors to create the vest look. I drilled holes in the arms; so the Beast Man Arm Armor could plug in with no straps. Only very worn parts from broken figures were used. I used the vintage logos and “Slave City” mini-comic cover to create the Packaging Card in Photoshop. The re-use of the same molds & parts for different figures is what makes the vintage MOTU figure line my favorite of all time! I feel this masked space-ninja looking character would have been a big seller for the line; if they would have released it back in the 80's. I would have loved it as a kid! Please wait... |
