Hey all just posting my custom Beorn with a fun little photoshoot. When someone uses a base figure that is perfect of course one would use it as well. Shout out goes to Bastila for using the Great Khal WWE figure as a base. I haven't watched wrestling in years and haven't collected the figures since I was a kid, so I know very little about them, so when I saw her original post I took inspiration and used the same base. Using the films, research online and watching all the behind the scenes for the Hobbit Appendices is always a fun watch whilst sculpting especially when you have first source reference being presented to you. So With this figure I cut off the lower shin where the swivel is and flipped it and sculpted a boot, that way I got the boot look right as well as a swivel higher up and detailed the laces. Then for his shackle I used a couple chain links from my Hellboy II Mr Wink and sculpted the bolt lock detail out of miliput. Then Using parts from Gandalf hair and Eomer hair I attached pieces to his face and hair then sculpted over to get the right look and sculpted the back hair. I dirtied him up a bit with black and brown paint for the right look and resculpted his mouth entirely and parts of his nose to get the right bear/human shape and then worked on the eyebrows and detailing hair flicks and layers. I painted the eyes the brown orange colour and shape they used in the film and spent a while mixing the dark and lights of his hair colours differentiating between whites greys blacks and browns. The Axe is a combination of Miliput plastic and an old paint brush I whittled down to the right shape, split the top inserted the axe head shape cut out from said plastic then sculpted and painted over and its strong and looks right. Thanks for having a look, more to come in a week roughly as I've bee saving up stuff to post or still working on it. I built a little cave house based on the designs in the film out of some wrongs sticks and yellow grass just to get a nice background and waited for a really sunny day Please wait... |
