So, since I am a big fan of the classic Superboy/Adventures of Superboy TV Series, I decided to make a figure of the alternate version of Superboy from the episode "Roads Not Taken - Part I" who had killed his Luthor, which plunged his world into darkness, fear, and apathy.
To do this figure, I took the DC Universe Classics Jack Knight Starman and used the boil and pop method to remove his head, arms, hands, and jacket. Next, I used my Dremel to sand down the ball joint attached to the Starman figure's neck into a cylindrical post. Once the cylindrical post was formed, I next used my Dremel to partially hollow out the head of a DC Universe Classics All-Star New 52 Superman. Next, I mixed up a small batch of Milliput and jammed it into the newly formed cavity inside the head, and, while the Milliput was still soft, I jammed the cylindrical post attached to the neck of the Starman figure into the Milliput to create a small hole in the center of the head cavity and let it dry. Next, I commenced a full repaint of the Starman, using flat black for the pants, Testors Model Masters Dark Ghost Gray for the T-shirt, Testors Model Masters Gloss Black for the shoulders, boots, and belt, and then a home brewed flesh tone paint for the neck. Once the paint on the body was fully dry, I commenced two generous coats of Flat Clear for all sections of the body except the shoulders, belt, and boots (the shoulders, belt, and boots I gave two generous coats of Semi-Gloss Clear). Next, I took the jacket from a DC Universe Classics Animal Man and gave it a full repaint in Testors Model Masters Gloss Black, followed by two generous coats of Semi-Gloss Clear. When the Semi-Gloss Clear on the jacket had fully dried, I put the jacket on the Starman body. Next, I test fit the head onto the neck, and satisfied with how the head and neck fit together, I set them aside and started repainting the head with the same home brewed flesh tone paint that I used on the neck and Testors Model Masters Flat Black for the hair and eyebrows. When the paint dried, I applied two generous coats of Flat Clear to the head. When the Flat Clear had finally dried, I glued the head in place atop the neck post. With the new head now attached, I took the hands from a DC Universe Classics Golden Age Atom and repainted them with the home brewed flesh tone (I used the Atom hands because I needed the figure to have clenched fists), followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. Next, I repainted both arms with Testors Model Masters Gloss Black, followed by two generous coats of Semi-Gloss Clear. Once the Semi-Gloss Clear had dried, I attached the fists to the arms, then re-attached the arms to the body, and TA-DA...the alternate universe version of Superboy from the episode "Roads Not Taken - Part I"!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
