So, since I am a big fan of the classic Superboy/Adventures of Superboy TV Series, I decided to make a figure of the character Brimstone, played by actor Philip Michael Thomas in the episode "Brimstone". The character of Brimstone was a supposedly immortal demon hunter who was sort of a cross between John Constantine and Blade, with one small detail added in from Doctor Who (his mobile base of operations, a silver colored trailer/camper was larger on the inside).
To do this figure, I took the DC Universe Classics Jack Knight Starman and used the boil and pop method to remove his head, arms, hands, and jacket. Next, I used my Dremel to sand down the T-shirt collar. Once the collar was removed, I applied two coats of Tamiya Putty White around the neck to cover up the marks on the shirt from the Dremel. When the putty had hardened, I sanded it smooth and then mixed up a small batch of Milliput that I applied around the neck to create the Turtleneck/Dickie style collar, which was then sanded smooth once dry. Next, I commenced a full repaint of the figure with Testors Model Masters Flat Black for the feet, pants, shoulders and shirt, Testors Model Masters Burnt Sienna for the exposed portion of skin on the neck, and Testors Model Masters Gloss Black for the belt. Once all the paint on the body had dried, I gave the shirt and neck two generous coats of Flat Clear, and the feet, pants, belt, and shoulder two generous coats of Semi-Gloss Clear. While the clear on the body dried I commenced a full repaint with Testors Model Masters Flat Black of the arms and Testors Model Masters Burnt Sienna of the hands. Once the paint on the arms and hands had dried, I gave the hands two generous coats of Flat Clear. Next, I used my Dremel to gently sand off the star pendant from the left lapel of the Starman jacket. With the pendant removed, I took a small amount of brush and roller cleaner to remove the stylized star symbol from the back of the jacket, and then gave the jacket a full repaint with Testors Model Masters Flat Black, followed by two generous coats of Semi-Gloss Clear. Once the Semi-Gloss Clear on the jacket had fully dried, I put the jacket back on the figure, and then used the boil and pop method to reassemble the arms and reattach them to the body. Once reattached to the body, I gave the sleeves of the arms two generous coats of Semi-Gloss Clear. Next, I took the unmasked head from a DC Universe Classics Bronze Tiger and gave it a full repaint with Testors Model Masters Burnt Sienna for the skin and Testors Model Masters Flat Black for the hair and eyebrows, followed by two generous coats of Flat Clear. When the Flat Clear on the head had fully dried, I attached the head to the body, and TA-DA...Brimstone, ally of Superboy from the Superboy TV Series episode "Brimstone"!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
