The initial line of the Captain America The First Avenger figures was a bit of a mess. Rather than produce a series based on the character’s appearance in the film, they were based on concept art. This often happens when a marketing deal is made with a toy company to create a line of toys based on a film at a point in which not a foot of film has been shot, yet the figures must drop to coincide with said movie in order sell it (as I primarily collect and create action figures based on film and tv properties, I’m basically collecting a sort of niche type memorabilia rather than toys in general). It wasn’t until the second film, The Winter Soldier was released three years later, that a line of figures was released that more closely matched the costumes from the film. This Cap is a kitbash of a couple of different figures to create one that is as close to movie accurate as I could get, and also adding a good deal of new articulation as well. Figure was ultimately completed in Spring 2018. Bonus shot of my upgrade of the Red Skull from that line as well.
