If you look through my gallery, you'll undoubtedly notice that I make a lot of Black Widow figures. I really love the character's rich history (well, prior to "Secret Empire", at least) and I'm always looking for new versions of her to make. I had bought Ego for a custom and was trying to figure out something to make with the cape that I didn't need. Fast forward to looking up some Black Widow pics to post in the Iron Man BAF wishlist thread and I stumbled across this very unique Black Widow look from the "Age of Ultron" comic a few years back. The comic was a little lackluster for me, but there was no denying how bad ass Nat was there, complete with facial scarring (I'm assuming an Ultron drone fried her)! Recipe: Head: Short haired Legendary Rider Black Widow head Body: "Infinity War" Black Widow Hands: Mandroid Series Black Widow Cape: Ego Hood: Blue Taskmaster hood (Red Onslaught Series) Wrist blaster effects: Magik Ultron head: Vintage Wave 2 Vision As you may recall from my Sasha Kravinoff post, I had bought some Biker Widows on really deep discounts at Wal*Mart so I had a few spare heads lying around from that body. I never cared too much for using the short-haired head on the Biker Widow body, but I saw potential with it for this version of Nat. With some Milliput and a piece of paper wrapped in packing tape, I sculpted some intense scars for her head; I wanted it to look almost like hamburger meat. I then painted the scar a slightly darker skin tone than the rest of her, and then went over it with an even darker skin tone for a paint wash; several shades, in fact! For her hood, I heated and pulled it from the Red Onslaught Taskmaster, the one with a blue hood, by using a hairdryer. I then gave the hood and cape a few coats of a mixture of yellow and tan I concocted. I then gave them both an even darker version of that color (mixed in more tan) as a paint wash in the folds and crevices. I then gave the bottom of her cape as well as random spots on the cape and hood an even darker version of the aforementioned color (added in some black) in the form of a good dry brushing for a bit of a weathered dirty effect (it's a future patrolled by Ultrons; I doubt she has much time to hit up the local laundromat). I had some spare blue wrist effects left over from that defective Magik and thought they made cool electrical effects for her Widow's Bite. To top it all off, I painted the clasps on the shoulder of the cape silver and gave her the Vision's Ultron head, since he doesn't have open hands to hold it. I really dig this version of Nat; it was a nice way to use up some spare fodder all while getting another Black Widow to add to the collection. I had a lot of fun taking pics of this one. ![]() |
