Fixing expensive figures and making characters that will never be made officially are the top reasons people get into customizing. Some people like sculpting mermaids, or painting yellow Deadpools, and some people, like Xysma Warhorse, just wanna shank a fig.

Secretly I'm hella jealous of XW's skittlez and want to swipe all the Borderlands figs he's made. Like, I would totally chop his hands off and replace mine with them, but that's absurd because I can't tie sutures one-handed. The next best thing to back-alley transplants is to admire all his work in the Custom Showcase.

A paintjob that doesn't betray the base figure used to be entirely green and blue is impressive enough, but here the hand-drawn tattoos, reminiscent of the crazed scrawlings Bandits use to "decorate" all of Pandora, steal the show. It's tough to make those things look demented but not sloppy, and XW shanked the balance.

And what's a Mr. Shank without some shivs? What's a Mr. Shank without a Chaz for emotional support? (That one is rhetorical) He's just another average guy who will eat your entrails for sport, that's what, so XW loaded him up with all sorts of shankers to pop little kids' balloons in as violent a way as possible.

XW shares what he did to protect his linework: "I used a fine point sharpie, it works if you then put a coat of varnish over it. Use a spraycan or airbrush for the varnish, brushing it on will smear the tattoo a bit if you aren't real careful. Ballpoint pins actually work really well too, just much finer. I used a ballpoint pin for the veining on Shrapnel."
