ArtOnRye is no stranger to modding toys, which totally craps on my intro paragraph, but it's alright because he brought us an in-depth write-up about his X-23 custom in a rarely-seen outfit. The timely Halloweenish color scheme looks good in its own abstract way, runaway straight lines hugging curves in a design that only metro subway planners can fully appreciate.

Much like a Colossus custom that was submitted before, this custom makes me want to go check out the comic it's from and see what funky suits the rest of the gang is wearing.

So, how does AOR's experience working with transforming robots translate to working with articulated figures?:

"There's not really much of a difference between the two so since I painted TFs first, a lot of my experience with painting them did carry over. The TFs have a lot more parts and more rubspots you have to prep beforehand since they transform and more large flat areas that are both harder and easier to deal with while only painting with a brush which I do for the most part. Harder because if you don't use a wide flat brush you will have a lot of brushstrokes to try to blend away with wet sanding. But easier in that, since they are flat, you can more easily wet sand the brushstrokes away. I found that especially while painting the white on Laura it was very difficult to not accidentally sand through the finish somewhere on the more organic shapes of the the body than I have before on TFs. Other than those, you might also use more metallic paints on TFs but it was very similar."
