buying disc, ball and swivel joints in bulk? in Custom Workstation by BrickTalkToys
Saturday, July 10, 2021
   [Edit]
Hi, Does anyone know where to find pinned joints for action figures? I'm looking for a variety of disc and ball joints for heads and ball and swivel joints for arms and knees. I want to make articulated figures but the only joints I can find are hobbiebase or revoltech. I'm looking for the slotted ones where it's like a disc on a ball joint. Does anyone have any experience with finding these online. Or could you recommend any other alternatives. Thanks a lot!!...[See More]

Custom 6"-7" Aragorn Figure with great face in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by wolfstrike28
Monday, August 12, 2019
   [Edit]
Hello figure realm community. So i have this idea and I want to see what some of you think. I was thinking of perhaps creating a Aragorn action figure that closely resembles Viggo's face accurately. Most of ToyBiz's models for him that's a 6-7" figure aren't perfect. What I was thinking, and tell me if this is crazy, that i create a 3D model of his face in a program and use a Form Labs 3D printer to print it, paint it, and place it on a action figures head. If this is possible, i think it is from what i looked up, does anyone know maybe the size of the head has to be in order for it to on an existing LoTR ToyBiz 6-7" figure? Or does anyone have suggestions on perhaps another toy model i could use to build this custom aragorn figure. I'm ope...[See More]

NECA ARTICULATION in Action Figure Chatter by MercMouth Customs
Tuesday, March 5, 2019
   [Edit]
This is a pretty simple topic, but I find it still relevant. I've been loving the NECA releases lately, specifically their Predator series, though this topic doesn't apply only to them.

Specifically, I have an issue with NECA's articulation, in that they will sculpt fantastic looking figures, give them all kinds of articulation, and then render it moot by covering the figure in rubber that is either very stiff or only partially flexible. Some of the best looking Preds like Scarface or Ahab might as well not have ball joint hips when you look at the heavy skirting they use. This issue is not so much the thickness of the rubber, but the flexibility.

I absolutely love the Movie TMNT figures Gamestop has, but while they're fantastically deta...[See More]

Mattel's WWE figures have the same problem, they tend to use stiff plastics for things like jackets and skirts which drop the articulation to zero. And they make them thick for some reason so they give off a playskool/homemade vibe. :/

The recent NXT series of figures (came out last month) have done a better job though. Thin flexible jackets that don't limit movement and are easier to remove and put on without a ton of stress on the joints.

I use Lysol wipes and never had any issues.

You can spray a paper towel with Lysol and wipe it down. If you're not concerned with getting it wet, I'd just clean it with with a soft brush using warm water and dish soap.
What is that clear sticky putty stuff called? in Action Figure Chatter by Henchmen4Hire
Updated Tuesday, December 31, 2019
   [Edit]
You know how when you get a credit card it has a line of clear sticky goo holding it onto the paper? What is that stuff? I'd like to get some to use it to keep accessories on action figures.

UPDATE

Glue Dots work well to keep things attached to a figure's body. There are many variant sizes, shapes and packages, but to simplify for our purposes there are Removable and Permanent versions:

•The Removable can be reused and doesn't damage fully cured paint or leave residue. It can hold shoulder pads in place, you can stick guns or swords to a figure's back, put pouches on their belt, etc., and it stays flexible enough that the part can move. If you're careful you can remove the attached item while leaving the sticky bit intact, so...[See More]

   [Edit]
I recently picked up the new ecto series Ghostbusters with the intent of repainting and selling them. Before that though I wanted to get some feedback from you fine Realmers on which suits you would prefer if you were buying them. Would you guys prefer movie colors, or the multi-colored suits from the Real Ghostbusters cartoon?...[See More]

Prototype boba fett black series arm removal in Action Figure Chatter by Yelims100
Updated Monday, January 4, 2021
   [Edit]
Hey guys, I'm interested in customizing a prototype boba fett black series and turning it into how he looks right now in the Mandalorian. I've removed all the limbs with some hot water and pulled them, but I'm having trouble removing the arms. Looking in the armpits, I don't really see a ball joint in there. Are they even removable? If so, how?...[See More]
